Alicia Yoon of Peach & Lily: The 20

Alicia Yoon of Peach & Lily: The 20

As a former beauty buyer, I’ve always loved learning about what’s new in the world of skincare and discovering those “cult favorite” products from all over the world…

I am particularly fascinated by brands coming out of Korea, as Korean women are known for having an impeccable skincare routine and, in turn, flawless skin. When I recently complimented a friend on her glowing complexion, she told me she was using products by Peach & Lily so, naturally, I was curious to learn more. As it turns out, Peach & Lily is not just a fabulous skincare brand in its own right, but also the “it” online destination for bringing Korea’s star skincare products stateside.

I was doubly impressed when I learned that Peach & Lily’s founder Alicia Yoon is both a certified esthetician and Harvard Business School graduate. What this means is that Alicia has both the hands on training AND the business sense to know that everyone’s skin is different and, therefore, needs to be treated differently. Besides wanting to make Korean products more accessible, her goal is to create a line of products that are high-performance without heavy irritants, toxins or harsh ingredients. Isn’t that what we all want?! Thus, Peach & Lily was born. As a female entrepreneur and fellow beauty world professional, I am thrilled to introduce you to Alicia and feature her on my latest edition of “The 20!”

1. Where I Am...

I'm at our very first office for Peach & Lily soon after we had moved in. This office holds a special place in my heart because it captures the journey that we've been on. We had just moved into this office after working out of my apartment for two years, and this office felt so spacious and big at the time.

2. What I'm Wearing...

I'm in a Tibi dress, Paul Andrews shoes, and a Want Les Essentiels bag walking around downtown.

3. What I'm Up To...

I'm about to give my signature Kbeauty facial with all my products all ready to go in our Bryant Park Loft office.

4. Peek Inside My Bedroom...

This is a common scene at home - product testing, reading about skincare, and by my computer working.

5. Something That Will Surprise You...

I keep spare clothes in the office because I'm either shooting or going to varied events that go from casual to pretty dressy. I keep a spare suitcase in the office too, because I've had to go on last minute trips to Korea even the day of.

6. Personal Style...

Either monochromatic or loud colors, not a ton in between. Also, either quite fitted and tailored or quite loose.

7. Favorite NYC Neighborhood...

Nolita and the East Village.

8. Necessary Luxury...

Mini vacations to truly unwind and clear the mind so that I can stay refreshed through the year.

9. Sexy is...

Knowing, embracing and being yourself.

10. Style Ethos...

Comfort first - this means both how it physically fits but also how I feel in it. Nothing wears worse than an outfit that you don't quite feel yourself in.

11. Dream Vacation...

The Galapagos Islands.

12. New York or Paris...

New York.

13. Favorite Time of Day...

Sunrise. I'm a morning person and love waking up super early and getting a head start to my day when everything is still quiet.

14. Best Virtue...

I have a lot of grit. I don't like to give up and will stick to something until I finish it.

15. Biggest Vice...

My best virtue can be my biggest vice. It's the other side of the coin. Sometimes, it's better to give up and move on, and I don't always cut my losses short.

16. In Front of Camera or Behind...

My job keeps me in front more than behind.

17. Artist Muse...

Vincent Van Gogh. I'm so inspired by how he marched against the grain and allowed true creativity to shine through all his own profound struggles.

18. Advice I Try to Follow...

Run to the problem and don't let them fester. A mentor told me this and it's made a big difference in being more effective at work. If there's an issue that needs to be dealt with, that's the first thing I'll run to in the day and it allows me to make better decisions regarding the issue and also clears the mind for other work.

19. Favorite Position...

Snuggled up on the couch with my husband after a long day of work just listening to music or watching TV.

20. Boys, Girls or Both...

Girls!
