The Future of Fine Jewels: Elie Top
I met Elie Top a few years ago and we clicked immediately.
He is charming, funny and insanely talented...
I immediately learned that he is the accessories director for Lanvin, whose jewelry is consistently the seasonal ‘must-have’. When Elie branched out and launched his namesake fine jewelry collection in 2015, I was blown away by the intricacy, luxury and innovation. Almost all his designs open to reveal a hidden gem inside each structural body. There is also a mechanical aspect as the hidden gem, whether it's a pearl or precious stone, literally moves - turns or spins - within it's structure.
One of the best kept secrets about what Elie also does is his bespoke client service. If you have a family heirloom that you love but rarely wear, Elie can work with you to re-set the jewel into one of his modern designs. The client would work him one-on-one to choose the metal and determine how they want to transform the piece. The jewel would then be hidden inside one of Elie's designs, allowing the wearer to wear it closed for a bit more discretion or open for a chic way to have some bling.
Most recently, Elie has launched his brand in the U.S. with a trunk show at Maxfield in LA and Dover Street Market in NYC, followed by an intimate soiree during New York Fashion Week at the new restaurant hotspot Pietro Nolita. I was honored to co-host the event and celebrate his recent success!
