My love affair with Estée Lauder started when I was a young girl and I smelled “Beautiful” perfume at a friend's house...
I quickly put it on my birthday list and waited patiently for my first bottle of real perfume. I was so excited to receive it from my parents as a gift and since then, the brand has always held a special place in my heart.
Nearly 30 years later and with a career in fashion and beauty buying under my belt, it is an honor to be featured on Estée Stories as a “Globe-Getter." With an interest in my life between NYC and Paris, I was asked to share my beauty and style secrets and how they change accordingly by city. Read the full story here.
What I loved about working on this story was re-familiarizing myself with not only the history of the brand, but also having the opportunity to try and wear so many of their products.
I created two makeup looks: one for New York by day and the other for Paris by night. The Double-Wear Foundation was my staple for both looks to create even skin tone and cover any blemishes. For New York, I wanted a more natural, daytime look so for lips I used Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in "Impulsive" with a little Bronze Goddess to add some color to my face. For Paris by night, I amped up the drama with Paint-On Liquid Lip Color in "Controversial" and the Little Black Liner to create a sultry cat eye. I love the way the products glide on my skin, feel lightweight and are super long wearing throughout the day.
On the history side, did you know that Estée Lauder was actually born “Esther” but adopted the nickname “Estée” for the brand because it sounded more sophisticated and French? With a keen marketing sense and a deep intuition, she knew, even back when she started the company in 1946, exactly how women wanted to feel and look, not to mention how to successfully sell product!
As a thoroughly modern-minded woman, she famously said, “Beauty is an attitude” and this could not resonate more. Thank you Mrs. Lauder for making women feel beautiful, inside and out.
