NYC's New IT Designer: Jeffrey Dodd
I met Jeffrey Dodd in 2013 when he started dating a dear friend of mine. We immediately clicked as, at that time, he was working for the designer Rachel Zoe and we bonded over our mutual love for fashion. When you first meet Jeffrey, you are instantly captivated by his blue eyes and extreme good looks (OK, he’s gorgeous!). When you break through his sometimes shy exterior however, what you learn is that Jeffrey has a witty sense of humor, a sharp eye for detail and a depth of creativity that is not obvious to the naked eye.
In 2014, Jeffrey took the courageous leap and started his own namesake womenswear collection which has been quietly building momentum over the past 3 years. I went to visit Jeffrey in his NYC studio to preview his new Fall 2017 collection and was blown away by the progress he has made.
The collection itself takes subtle inspiration from sculptor Jean Dubuffet’s effortless lines, as well as the curves and peaks that one would see if they were flying over the Yukon glaciers. The color palette includes beautiful shades of purples, fuschias, greys, charcoals, whites and silvers. The collection ranges from chic daytime dressing to full on glam evening gowns. In fact, Jeffrey has gained recent notoriety for dressing celebs like Ashley Greene, Allison Williams and Busy Philipps, all who looked absolutely stunning in his gowns.
That said, Jeffrey’s dressed down pieces are my personal favorites from ultra-cozy cashmere sweaters, cashmere trousers, chiffon printed blouses, short sleeve fur jackets, and the star item of the collection, a super sexy silver leather skirt with front and back slits.
