The Other Turkish Delight: Lug Von Siga
During a Paris Fashion Week exploration, I was immediately drawn to the modern yet rich-in-heritage feeling of womenswear brand, Lug Von Siga...
Founded in 2010 and cleverly named as an acronym of its designer, Gul Agis, Gul herself is genuine and passionate with a true entrepreneurial spirit. She single-handedly designs, sells and travels to build her business. What I find the most inspiring part of Gul's story is that, at the age of 29, she decided to drop everything and live her dream of becoming a designer. She moved to Milan, studied fashion design and, after graduation, went on to work for Costume National for four years where she even further perfected her tailoring and fitting skills. She then moved back to Turkey to become the head of design for one of Turkey's biggest textile production companies before finally setting out to start her own collection.
In discovering the brand for the first time, I personally fell in love with the fashion forward approach with off the shoulder and ruffled blouses and, this season, the neutral tones and understated aesthetic. That said, there is also an ethnic-chic vibe, which brings a true essence of authenticity from the brands Turkish heritage.
Lug Von Siga is just getting on the radar and, if I have to make a bet, is about to take the international fashion world by storm.
