Temple of Party Lovers: Manko Cabaret
Paris nightlife has always been known to be glamourous, risqué and limitless...
It’s one of the rare places I have been where you have 20 year olds dancing next to 60 year olds with absolutely no judgement or pretention. Everyone is just there to have fun and enjoy life… the true meaning of “joie de vivre” as the French would say.
As someone who, admittedly, loves a great nightlife scene, I was literally blown away by the new cabaret club called Manko. I was greeted at the door by artistic directors, Emmanuel d'Orazio and Marc Zaffuto, of Club Sandwich fame, who are breathing new life into Paris after-dark. This past Paris Fashion Week, the word spread quickly and the crowd was crawling with models, designers and people "in the know," all table hopping and dancing until 3am.
The décor itself is plush and decadent with large red banquets facing a stage with a dramatic red velvet curtain and a dance floor in the middle. As the crowd piles in, bottle service is brought to the tables and, shortly thereafter, the first show begins. I won't give it all away but think drag, drama and a ton of sex appeal! The night consists of a few shows, perfectly spaced out so, in between, you're dancing and mingling with both friends and members of the cast. Go with a group, be prepared to stay out late and wear your dancing shoes!!!
Below are a few fun pictures from my night out…
