The Pajama Party
I don’t know about you but I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect pair of pajamas...
It’s always a bit tricky as being a mom, I want something respectable in front of the kids. In the winter, I want something warm. Then I think about my husband who definitely isn’t super psyched about me in my respectable, warm pajamas in bed…I mean, seriously, how boring! HA. So, what does one do until summer sets in? The trick I’ve discovered is to have a few different pairs of pajamas for different occasions and, no matter what, make sure none of them are flannel or from L.L. Bean (no, offense L.L. Bean - loved your pajamas in college!).
So, here’s what you need for the perfect pajama wardrobe.
1. The Classic Silk Pajama
Despite the annoyance of wrinkles, the classic silk pajama has definitely become my favorite everyday option. They are totally unoffensive for whomever is sharing your bed, appropriate for breakfast with the kids and comfortable for both lounging AND sleeping. UK-based brand Olivia von Halle makes some of the best pajama sets on the market today, both long sleeved and short in a variety of rich colors. I personally love the menswear style with the white piping along the edges.
2. The Sexy Set
For those moments when your kids are not hovering over you, this is where we can get a little sexier while still looking chic (Valentine’s Day surprise maybe?!). For those of you who don’t know, It-girl lingerie brand Fleur du Mal recently collaborated with luxury fragrance brand Kilian and created a gorgeous set of scented pajamas and lingerie items! I know, your mind is blown! Basically, the lace portion of each item within the collaboration is micro-encapsulated with Kilian’s best-selling perfume “Love, Don’t be Shy," the irresistible marshmallow-inspired gourmand fragrance. The scent lasts up to six washes but this limited-edition collection is selling out fast so get it now before it’s gone!
3. The "Borrowed from the Boys" White Shirt
Last but not least, there’s the menswear-inspired white shirt pajama. Typically, this is viewed as the “morning after” look, as if one just casually threw on your significant other's white dress shirt because there’s nothing else to wear. Obviously this never happens...or does it?! Well either way, now you have a white dress shirt of your own with a better fit because it’s made for a woman! I found this one from Kiki de Montparnasse that works perfectly.
So, depending on your pajama needs, all of these options will keep you looking stylish for bedtime, both for yourself and those around you.
