The Hot Potato: Caviar Kaspia x Spring Place
Living between NYC and Paris, there are quite a few things that I know I can only find in either city...
In Paris, in particular, that restaurant is Caviar Kaspia and, until now, could only be found in Paris. What I love about Caviar Kaspia besides well, the caviar (duh!), is the ambiance. As soon as you walk in, you feel welcomed and comfortable, as if you are walking into your best friends dining room.
Those best friends are actually the power-couple, Ramon Mac-Crohon and Anoushka Mac-Crohon, who have been running the restaurant since 2011 and have worked tirelessly to give it that exact warm, homey and uber-chic feel. They have turned the restaurant into the IT place to be and one of the hardest reservations to get around town, especially during Paris fashion week and other key dates on the fashion calendar. Either you call months in advance, you know someone on the inside, or you're out of luck.
After years of contemplating bringing the famed restaurant to NYC, the perfect opportunity to test the waters presented itself at the private membership club, Spring Place. Located in downtown Manhattan between Soho and Tribeca, Spring Place is housed within Spring Studios, who already hosts numerous photo shoots, fashion shows and events such as the Tribeca Film Festival. With the idea to establish a meeting ground for creatives and entrepreneurs alike, Spring place opened in June as a work space and social club within this already happening environment.
Further adding to the growing buzz, the Caviar Kaspia pop-up at Spring Place opened in early December with a splashy launch party and plans to stay open through New York fashion week in Spring 2017. With the help of Alex de Betak and his team at Bureau Betak, every detail was perfectly thought through to replicate the Parisian restaurant. The curtains, chairs, table settings, menu, paintings and even the fireplace mantel were shipped over from Paris, creating an environment exactly like the original. Not to mention the famous baked potato and caviar, the most popular item on the menu. When inside, you truly feel like you've been transported from NYC to Paris. And true to their Parisian reputation, reservations are booking up fast. If you can't make it to Paris and are looking for a super special evening, enjoy this before it's gone!
